Your Donegal Getaway

We would like to welcome you to our cottages and we hope you will feel at home during your stay.

A small bit of information how we started our self catering accommodation.

Danny’s family had been farming in this area since 1957. Danny took over the family farm in 1989 in which he farms mainly  Charolais cattle. The cattle grazed on the site where the cottages lie today. There were also two derelict houses on site with a tree at the back of one of the houses. This tree still remains today in the shrub bed at the front of cottage no. 1.

The cattle are out grazing in the fields  during the summer months and are housed during the winter months.

In 2003 we decided to build our first two cottages and the first self catering guests arrived in October 2004. In 2006 we added our third cottage along with the hot tubs. In 2010 was when the play ground was added and has proved very popular with the children that stay.

We also have our two resident donkeys who go by the name of Jedward! They love to get a treat from our guests and are very friendly. Sometimes they may not be grazing in view of the cottages.

WiFi
The WiFi is open under Millstone Cottages guest.

Liam is our local taxi man. Please give him a bit of notice if you would like to use his taxi service. His number is +353 863536334.

Heating in the cottage
The dial switch to turn on/off the heating is located in the utility room above the tumble dryer. There are three locations in which the dial can be set.

On - If you set the dial at On the heating will stay on until you turn it off.

Off - everything is off

Timer – Where the arrow is pointing that is what the time is at that moment . You can pull out each little slot out the way on the dial to set the heating. Each slot is 15 minutes so if you pull out four slots then the heating will be on for one hour. You can do this different times all at once on the 24 hour lock. Don’t forget to have it at timer!

When the oil heating is turned to constant on it will heat the radiators and the water. You need the water heated from this system for the shower and bath upstairs. The shower downstairs is electric so it is instant hot water.

Bins
You will find a bin located in the utility room. This bin is for your domestic/food waste. When the bin is full please place it in the Green wheelie bin outside. Nappies can also go into the green wheelie bin.

The Blue wheelie bin is recyclable for paper and plastic.

There is a third bin outside for bottles and cans. At times you may see that this bin has been removed as it can fill rather quick! If this bin is not there during your stay you can leave whatever bottles and cans in the utility room.

The information below are a few  of the tourist attractions and restaurants within the area. The hours of opening may vary from summer to winter months. You can find most businesses on Facebook. The restaurants usually display their menu’s on facebook or their websites.
